Ring Over View

Here I am vissualising the ring over view to better show and understand the ring layout. I have taken the idea from no7 of the last post with having multiple objects on the rings.

1

Here Is the representation on no7 from the post before.

2

Here I have moved things around so that the plants and crops are on one ring and the food is all on another.

3

Here I have pulled back a little from having so many object on each ring. Here I was thinking of having two on each ring so it would make two lines when they all line up; one line would be how it effects crops, which in turn, effect our fruit/veg and then to man. The other shows how it effects plats and then, the animals that eat the plants and then once again to man. This with the single globe which would move from line to line.

Exploring Texture

Using the images for the possible tops of the orrery, I have experimented with with brass and wooden texture to see if they would possibly suite and then the idea of the possibility of making the structure suite the material of the construction. I.E if the tops are wooden, the construction would be wooden based.

Surprisingly, I find my self liking one of the wooden and one of the bass. I had believed that the textures would not fit of make the objects look to hard (like no 2 of the brass and 1 of the wood) but I quite like no 1 and 3 of the brass and wooden textures. I like the wooden as it feels smooth and toy like while the brass feels like a collectable trinket.

The Domino Effect

So doing a little more research into the domino effect of what would happen if the bumblebee was to go extinct, I did not find any massively detailed about what would happen but what I did find was quite shocking. Some describing it as the beginning of the 6th mass extinction which would end the world as we know it. Although it was again blurry around how the down fall happens but what I have managed to gather from the reports I have read is as follows:

The Bee is said to pollinate 70% of all the plants/crops on the planet. This would be the first victim of the lack of the bee. This lack of pollination would also effect trees. Many of the plants would die out which would also kill off a lot of are food source. However this would also affect herbivores, for example, sheep cows etc which would die out due to the lack of food. This in turn would effect predators as the herbivores would be dyeing out and thus no food the predator. Finally the human race would begin to die out due to a lack of food and most probably war. This would become the 6th mass extinction.

In the image below I have just drawn out a basic symbol for these key points to the worlds end.

Set Part 2 finalising

Using the same background as the first, I have built this main building, the one withing the book. The idea is you have to take out all the light and work the way to the top, castuing a shadow of the world. This will follow on from set 1. Its simpler than set 1 but has its own challenge of working out how to take them all out with out touching the lights them selves. Once you have reached the goal the demo will end.

Set 1 Finalising

So here is the part one of two. Its a lot smaller than I had firstly intended but I feel its more to the point. Its based on a simple tutorial/ demo level, so, in other words small and shows a little of the game and gives you a base knowledge of the controls in the game.

The idea is all about making the world come into shadow, so taking out the lights successfully with out being detected gets you points,if you take out all of them with out been detected will give you max points. It also embraces the idea of working out a route within the map, jumping from a to b or a to c.

The set could use with a few more lights but i do not want to over crowd the set.

Set Goes Into Darkness

So just a little test for my self to see how the look of the world will change as the lights are taken out. I wanted it to go darker but not to dark. Im not sure if this is darkened now but you do get the sense as the lights go out, shadow comes.

The building them selves now are sorted for my liking. I have a few buildings now which Im happy with which could be duplicated (so only ever going to have a set number of buildings). The background, I quite like the mountain instead of the buildings so that is now staying. The purple I think maybe a little to purple so only a few more tests on that until it is finalised.

With the layout it self, I have had positive feedback around this layout. I intend to add a little bit at the start and make this into one of the 2-3 sets I intend to do.

Set Design

Just changed up the set a little, little bit smaller but is still the same basis. Take out lights, jump from place to place and work out how to get max score before leaving the area.

Im trying here to add a little more texture to the peace and how tried a new background instead of more buildings. Also tried having a fog/smoke like feel in the foreground instead of behind.

The fog in the foreground and texture dues add a nice fogy feel and almost like a photograph. It due make it harder to see which may not be a bad thing or a good thing though I still prefer the fog behind the main black of the foreground.

Some More Colour Tests

So again some more background tests. These 3 are trying to bring a more ink feel to it. I quite like this but as still draw to the block coloured ones.

Colour Background Test(s)

Just some very quick tests for the background colour. I quite like 1,4,5,6 as they make the set pop out.

Adding Highlights To Set

So before turning my set to colour I thought Id go with the idea on my character and highlight small part as an experiment as I to like is silhouetted. Im trying the highlights in white and brown. Ive also again changed the background colour to see If it would look better.

Set Design - Silhouette

Here Ive blocked out the set to work out how I want it. I quite like it being simple block colours as it makes it pop out. When playing the camera would be focussed in and would scroll along with the player. Some details are still missing but I quite like this as a hole

Part 1 of level

Here Is just a basic run through to get used to some of the basic controls. Also here you will leaner some of the buildings and walls you can run through, jump over etc. You shall also pick up your first throwing weapon here which has a limited number of throws.

Part 2 of level

Here It will guide to the basic roles of choose. Allowing the player to choose his path to his current goal.

Part 3 of level

Here the player will be shown how to deal with lighting which can be destroyed by throwing your weapon at them in order to be able to get to the baskets which may or may not have hidden items within. Player will also have to use his apprentice to get into certain areas.

Part 4 of level

Here The player will be shown how to use other items to climb up large buildings to get to this target(s).
